A heart-wrenching incident took place in Maharashtra‘s Dhule district in which a container hit several vehicles and later got overturned, killing around seven people while 28 others are left injured. 

The tragic incident occurred in the Shirpura taluka area of Dhule district.

7 dead, 28 injured after a container hit vehicles, rams into hotel

In an official statement to news agency ANI, the Maharashtra Highway Police said, “Seven people dead and 28 others were injured after a container hit several vehicles and later got overturned. The accident took place in Shirpur taluka of Dhule district.”

The police said that the accident took place nearly around 10:45 am on the Mumbai-Agra highway in Dhule, located over 300 kilometres from the Maharashtra capital city, Mumbai.

How did it happen? 

According to the media reports, the accident is said to happen when a driver lost control of the vehicle after the brakes of the truck failed. It then hit two motorcycles, a car, and another container from the rear side. 

Reportedly, the truck rammed into a hotel near a bus stop and overturned, the police said. 

As per the news agency PTI, the truck was on its way to Dhule from Madhya Pradesh. 

After the incident was reported, the police immediately reached the incident spot. The injured persons were rushed to hospitals in Shirpur and Dhule, the police said.
