At least six persons were killed in the Uttar Prdaehs Deoria district over an ongoing land dispute in Fatehpur village, police said on Monday.6 killed in land dispute row in Uttar Pradeshs Deoria districtBriefing about the incident, District Magistrate Deoria Akhand Pratap Singh said, “Among the deceased is a former district panchayat member, identified as Prem Yadav and Satya Prakash Dubey, a man from the rival group.”The other deceased include two women and two children from rival families.He added, “The incident took place today morning in Fatehpur village of Rudrapur Kotwali area of Deoria district. A longstanding land dispute between two families took a tragic turn and six people were killed.”“The former District Panchayat member Prem Yadav was the first to be murdered with a sharp weapon. After this, in retaliation to the murder, the family members of the deceased Prem Yadav shot five members of Satya Prakash Dubey and killed them on the spot,” said the DM.“An eight-year-old boy has also been seriously injured in the incident,” he added.Upon getting information, the District Magistrate along with several other police officials arrived at the scene.The official further stated that one of the accused in the case had been apprehended by the police. Police teams have been deployed in the area due to the tense situation in the aftermath of the murders, added the official.Further details were awaited.
