A portion of an old building collapsed on Tuesday evening near Banke Bihari Temple in Vrindavan, Uttar Pradesh. According to the officials, the incident has claimed five lives and left several injured.
The police officials informed that the incident happened and that a big chunk of the building got collapsed when the devotees were passing by the building.

Vrindavan SHO Vijay Kumar Singh said that the rescue operation was started soon after they received the call from the spot. He also added that a couple of monkeys were fighting among themselves on the balcony when it collapsed. After rescuing the people, they were immediately rushed to the hospital, where they were declared dead. The injured are getting treated and out of danger.

Meanwhile, the district administration has also announced the compensation to the families of kin.
The deceased have been identified as Geeta Kashyap (50), Arvind Kumar Yadav (35), Rashmi Gupta (52) from Kanpur, Anju Murgan (51) of Vrindavan, and Chandan Rai (28) of Deoria.
