A dispute over a sum of Rs 30 proved fatal for a 17-year-old teen who was allegedly strangled to death in the Baraut city of Baghpat disctrict of Uttar Pradesh (UP), police said on Saturday. Three people have been arrested in relation to this case by police.

The deceased has been identified as Hrithik, who was allegedly killed by the accused in the Baraut Police Station area at around 9 pm on Friday night, police said.

Hrithik was a class 11 student, studying in the  KHR Inter College located in the disctrict.

Police gives detail on UP teen murder

In a media interview, Baraut Station House Officer (SHO) Devesh Kumar Singh said that preliminary investigation into the alleged murder revealed a dispute over ₹ 30.

A complaint was filed by the victim’s family which stated that Hrithik had a dispute with three men of the same village regarding a transaction of ₹ 30. The dispute then quickly escalated to a point where the three accused strangled the 17-year-old to death.

SHO Kumar further added that according to the victim’s family all three accused knew Hrithik. They also said that Hrithik’s body did not have any marks of injury.

The police have sent the victim’s body for a post-mortem examination and an FIR has also been registered on this case and further investigations are underway, police said.
