However, the doctors there asked Sujata to shift her father to the Bhadrak district headquarters hospital. She then pedalled for another 35 km to bring her father to the district hospital. According to media reports, Sujata’s father Sambhunath was injured in a group clash on October 22.

The doctors at the Bhadrak district headquarters hospital had advised her to go back home and come back after a week for an operation, Sujata told media.

According to the Bhadrak Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) Santanu Patra, Sujata’s father was admitted on October 23 for treatment and was advised for an operation after a week.

"We have no provision for ambulance service to return the patients to home... He will remain in the hospital till the end of the treatment," Mr Patra said.

Why Sujata decides to take her father on a trolley

Commenting on her decision to bring her father in a trolley, Sujata said “I neither have money to hire a private vehicle nor a mobile phone to call the ambulance. So, I used my father's trolley to bring him (Sambhunath) to the hospital.”

The news of a Sujata pedalling her father to the hospital was heard by Bhadrak MLA Sanjib Mallick and former Dhamnagar MLA Rajendra Das who reached out to the girl and extended their help.
