A 13-year-old teen who was survived after rape in Madhya Pradesh’s Guna has given birth to a baby in a district hospital. According to the police officials, the complaint about her rape was lodged by the family of the survivor on August after they found about her pregnancy.

The officials also stated that girl was raped in March this year and was threatened not to disclose the assault to anyone. Based on the complaint received from the family, the police registered a case under section 376 (rape) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and relevant provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, and the accused was arrested on August 25, women police station in-charge Poonam Savita informed.

During the investigation, it was also revealed that victim’s parent also approached the court for the termination of her pregnancy, but it was too late for the same.

The police official also stated that the teen girl survivor and new born baby is doing well. Meanwhile, a team of Child Welfare Committee will counsel the survivor and will also take decision about the infant after consulting the doctor.
