The capital of India, which has been witnessing the high pollution levels will witness the Odd-Even vehicle rotational system. The system has been used earlier as well to curb the pollution. It is to be noted here that the decision from Delhi government has come keeping the alarming situation of rising pollution in the city. Under the scheme, number plates which ends with the odd numbers (1, 3, 5, 7, 9) will be allowed to be operational on odd dates and vehicles with the even number plates (0, 2, 4, 6, 8) will be operational on even dates. He further added that according to the weather forecast there is a possibility that the wind speed will increase on November 7, 8 which is expected to reduce the level of pollution to a significant level. As per the forecast, the wind speed will be 12km/hour tomorrow, 7th November and if the speed reaches 10 to 12 km/hour, then there is a possibility that the level of pollution accumulated here might disperse. Similarly, the wind speed will be 8-10 km/hour on 8th November. It is expected that the speed of wind will increase on November 7 and 8 November which will reduce the level of pollution..., he said.Alarming numbersThe air quality in the National Capital was recorded at 488, up from 410 a day ago, according to the data issued by the System of Air Quality Forecasting and Research (SAFAR-India) recently.On Monday, AQI was recorded at 466 at Delhis RK Puram.Air quality across Delhi continues to be in the Severe category as per the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).AQI in RK Puram at 466, in ITO at 402, in Patparganj at 471 and in New Moti Bagh at 488 pic.twitter.com/oBrbdeLqdp— ANI (@ANI) November 6, 2023Delhi govts 8-point Winter Action PlanAccording to the action plan that was shared by the Environment Minister of Delhi, a ban on entry of truck traffic into Delhi (except for trucks carrying essential commodities/ providing essential services and all LNG/ CNG/ electric trucks) has come into effect. In addition to this, a ban will be imposed on the plying of Delhi-registered diesel-operated Medium Goods Vehicles (MGVs) and Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs) in Delhi, except those carrying essential commodities/ providing essential services. Apart from this, the state government has also directed the school to discontinue physical classes even for classes VI-IX, and class XI and conduct lessons in an online mode.
