Jaiswal's double century made him the third youngest Indian to achieve this feat in Test cricket. The record for the youngest Indian to score a double century is held by Vinod Kambli, who accomplished this milestone against England at the age of 21 years and 335 days in 1993. Kambli also holds the record for being the second youngest Indian double centurion, achieving the feat at the age of 21 years and 355 days against Zimbabwe.
Before Kambli, the record was held by legendary batsman Sunil Gavaskar, who scored his maiden ton in West Indies in 1971.
Yashasvi Jaiswal had previously made a mark on his Test debut against the West Indies last year, scoring 171 runs. Although he faced a setback in the series opener against England in Hyderabad, where he contributed 80 runs in a losing cause, his recent double century has re-established his prominence in the Indian batting lineup.
Resuming his innings at 179 on the second day, Jaiswal showcased resilience and determination. Partnering with overnight batter Ravichandran Ashwin (20), Jaiswal added another crucial 28 runs before Ashwin's dismissal by James Anderson.
The moment of glory came for Jaiswal in the 102nd over when he reached the double century mark with a six and a four off Shoaib Bashir's bowling. The young opener's ability to convert starts into substantial scores is indicative of his growing maturity as a Test batsman.

India, currently trailing 0-1 in the ongoing five-match series, will look to leverage Jaiswal's stellar performance to level the series. His innings not only puts India in a commanding position in the second Test but also adds a layer of excitement and anticipation for cricket enthusiasts eagerly following this intriguing series.
