Before India’s first MotoGP race at the Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, on Sunday, Bollywood celebrity and bike lover John Abraham visited the race venue, stating he hopes to see an Indian racer compete in the MotoGP someday.

John Abraham wants to see more Indian racers

Abraham also thanked the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath for bringing the celebrated MotoGP race to India. The ‘Pathan’ actor also added that he wishes to see aspiring Indian racers in the future, as per media reports. He further mentioned his dream to start an academy in the country, saying he wants to see an Indian compete in the race in future someday.

“I am thankful to the MotoGP for bringing the race to India. I congratulate the Indian Oil MotoGP team for putting this race together. I’d also like to thank the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh for making this happen. I can’t wait to see all the racers, whom I had only seen on television earlier, compete right here in India. It just feels incredible that the MotoGP has finally arrived in India. My dream is to start an academy one day and I would want to see an Indian race in the MotoGP,” Abraham told ANI.

MotoGP final winners 

In the finals held on Sunday, Italian racer Marco Bezzecchi won the inaugural Indian Grand Prix while Pramac Racing rider and sprint winner Jorge Martin, who risked a penalty by unzipping his leathers, finished second and Yamaha’s Fabio Quartararo got placed third.

In the awarding ceremony, Sports Minister Anurag Thakur presented the Yamaha team principal with the trophy for the winning constructor and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Anurag Thakur handed the winner’s trophy to Marco Bezzecchi. The three winners are handed the champagne bottles which they spray on each other to celebrate the win.
