India and Australia will lock horns for the World Cup trophy at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday. Ahead of the highly anticipated clash, top cricketing authorities are well-prepared for probable disruptions in the final clash of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. Here's what will happen if India vs Australia gets washed out on November 19.

What if rain interrupts?

Although the weather forecast for finals on Sunday in Ahmedabad seems favorable, authorities are well-prepared for unexpected disruptions. If rain interrupts play on the scheduled day, the match will be rescheduled for 'Reserve Day' on Monday.  The International Cricket Council (ICC) has introduced a rule in the ongoing event of washout situations even after two days. This will eliminate the controversial boundary-count tiebreaker, where the officials declare the winners based on the number of boundaries scored. Instead, the team with a superior group stage performance will be crowned champions.

In case of a short delay due to rain or other unforeseen circumstances, a total of two hours of additional time will be allocated for the event. During two hours, no overs will be deducted. However, in case of a delay of over two years, overtime will be deducted as per the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method.  One over will be deducted for every five minutes lost.

However, the decision to move into the Reserve Day will only be implemented if a minimum of 20 overs cannot be bowled on the scheduled day.

Road to the final

India is the only undefeated team in the competition after their brilliant performance in every department. 'Men in Blue' won 10 out of 10 matches. On the other hand, Australia lost its two opening games of the tournament. However, Kangaroos stepped up and displayed great resilience to storm into finals.
