India continued its brilliant bowling display and restricted Bangladesh to 256 runs in 50 overs after losing 8 wickets in the ongoing match against Bangladesh at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune.

Bangladesh opted to bat first after winning the toss in the seventeenth game of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.

Fifties for Tanzid Hasan and Litton Das

Opening pair Tanzid Hasan and Litton Das gave the blitzing start to Bangladesh and scored 63 runs in the first powerplay. The pair added 93 runs for the first wicket making the Indian bowling lineup look ordinary.

India’s chinamen bowler Kuldeep Yadav provided a much-needed breakthrough and dismissed Tanzid Hasan, who scored 51 runs off just 43 deliveries including 5 boundaries and 3 maximums.

Litton Das also completed his half-centuries and got out to Ravindra Jadeja after playing an impressive knock of 66 runs. He smashed 7 boundaries during his stay.

Mini-collapse in top order

The dismissal of Tanzid Hasan caused a mini-collapse in the top order as the skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto and Mehidy Hasan Miraz fell cheaply. Ravindra Jadeja claimed the wicket of a Bangladeshi skipper while Mohammed Siraj scalped Mehidy Hasan Miraz who scored 8 and 3 runs respectively, reducing Bangladesh’s score to 165 runs after losing four wickets in 35 overs.

Nasum Ahmed scored 14 runs before getting dismissed by Mohammed Siraj.

Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammed Siraj, and Jasprit Bumrah scalped two wickets each while Shardul Thakur and Kuldeep Yadav got one wicket each.

Brief scorecard:

Bangladesh: 256 (8 wkts, 50 Ov)

Litton Das 66, Tanzid Hasan 51, Mahmudullah 46; Ravindra Jadeja 2-38, Jasprit Bumrah 2-41
