In the highly anticipated clash between England and Sri Lanka in ongoing  ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, Sri Lanka thrashed England by 8 wickets at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Thursday.  England was bundled out at 156 runs in 33.2 overs and Sri Lanka chased down the target in just 25.4 overs.


Pathum Nissanka and Sadeera Samarawickrama wrapped up the game for Sri Lanka in the twenty-fifth match of the multinational event. Pathum Nissanka scored 77 runs off 83 runs including seven boundaries and six maximums while Sadeera Samarawickrama continued his good form and scored 65* runs off 54 deliveries including seven boundaries and one maximum.

Sri Lanka (Pathum Nissanka 77, Sadeera Samarawickrama 65; David Willey 2-30)

Result: Sri Lanka won by 8 wickets
