New Zealand has qualified for the semis after a commanding win against Sri Lanka in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 on Thursday. The Blackcaps chased down the target of 172 in 23.2 overs.

The Blackcaps are into the semis after the convincing win against the Lankans. This win has broken the hearts of Afghanistan and Sri Lankan fans. Pakistan is virtually out of the semis but not completely as they need a miraculous win against the defending champions in the ongoing tournaments.

New Zealand openers gave a brisk stat as the pair of Devon Conway and Rachin Ravindra hammered 73 runs in the first powerplay. The partnership was terminated by Dushmantha Chameera, who scalped the wicket of Devon Conway (45). Mahesh Theekshana injected another blow by dismissing Rachin Ravindra (42).

Daryl Mitchell contributed 43 runs while Glenn Phillips and Tom Latham seized the win for New Zealand.

New Zealand's fiery bowling

Earlier, New Zealand bundled out Sri Lanka on 171 runs in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The pace trio of New Zealand was breathing fire as they scalped seven wickets. Kusal Perera was the only batsman who counter-attacked the Kiwi bowlers as he hammered 51 runs off just 28 deliveries.
