The win strengthens India’s position in the points table. India is in the second position with four wins in four matches. New Zealand holds the top position with a better net-run rate while Bangladesh is at the seventh spot with a win and three losses.

As it happened

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma gives India a flier start after Bangladesh was restricted to 256/8 in Pune.

The Indian captain smashed 7 boundaries and 2 sixes before felling 2 runs short of his half-century and was dismissed in the 13th over on 48 off 40.

Fifty for Shubman

After the departure of ‘Hitman,’ the Indian star batter Virat Kohli along with Shubman Gill stitched a 44-run stand that kept India way ahead in the game of its rival. Shubman Gill completed his fifty before getting dismissed by Mehidy Hasan Miraz. He scored 53 runs off 55 deliveries including 5 boundaries and 2 sixes.

As Virat came on the crease, he got two back-to-back no balls which he scored double on the first ball and hit a boundary off the second delivery scoring 12 runs off his first three balls.

Virat takes charge

Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium witnessed the brilliance of King Kohli as completed his 48th ODI ton.

Virat along with Shreyas Iyer took the innings forward after Gill’s dismissal. As the game proceeded India reached the 150-run mark in 22.4 overs. King Kohli completed his third fifty of World Cup 2023 in 48 balls, with four boundaries and a maximum.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz once again ended the budding partnership by scraping Iyer for 19 after he was caught by Mahmudullah at deep midwicket making the scorecard 178/3 in 29.1 overs.

Chase Master’s brilliance

The chase master Kohli sealed the game with a maximum finishing the target of 257 runs in 41.3 overs. Mehidy Hasan Miraz claimed two wickets for Bangladesh, while Hasan Mahmud got the wicket of Rohit Sharma.

Bangladesh opted to bat first after winning the toss in the seventeenth game of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.

Fifties for Tanzid Hasan and Litton Das

Opening pair Tanzid Hasan and Litton Das gave the blitzing start to Bangladesh and scored 63 runs in the first powerplay. The pair added 93 runs for the first wicket making the Indian bowling lineup look ordinary.

India’s chinamen bowler Kuldeep Yadav provided a much-needed breakthrough and dismissed Tanzid Hasan, who scored 51 runs off just 43 deliveries including 5 boundaries and 3 maximums.

Litton Das also completed his half-centuries and got out to Ravindra Jadeja after playing an impressive knock of 66 runs. He smashed 7 boundaries during his stay.
