Indian pacers breathe fire against Sri Lanka at the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 on Thursday. Chasing the mammoth target of 358 Sri Lanka four wickets in the first four overs of the innings at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.

Bumrah, Siraj on fire

As the chase began, ace Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah injected the first blow on the very first ball of the innings. He dismissed Pathum Nissanka for a golden duck. Mohammed Siraj sank the Sri Lankan ship further by striking twice in the second over of the innings. The Indian speedster dismissed Dimuth Karunaratne in the first ball of his spell for the second golden duck of the Sri Lankan innings. The inform batter Sadeera Samarawickrama perished on the fifth ball of the over the ball took a thick outside edge and travelled to the third slip. Sri Lanka was reduced to 2/3 in 2 overs. This was the fourth incident when both the openers were dismissed for a golden duck.

Kusal Mendis didn't trouble the scrores as  Mohammed Siraj sent the off stump for a walk reducing the team's total to 3/4 in 4 overs. This is his third wicket in the ongoing clash against Sri Lanka. 

Sri Lanka needs 358 to win

India continues to dominate the opponent as it posts a mammoth score of 357/8 in 50 overs against Sri Lanka after being invited by Sri Lanka to bat first. The Indian innings were helped by the big fifties from Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli. However both the batters missed respective centuries. Shreyas Iyer also scored a commanding half-century.
