World Cup 2023 IND vs SA: South Africa fights back after India's blistering start

India is off to a flyer start against South Africa in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 on Sunday. Indian skipper Rohit Sharma came all guns blazing in the 37th game of the tournament at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Rohit Sharma smashed 40 runs off 24 deliveries including 6 boundaries and 2 maximums.

However, the Indian skipper perished as he came down to play over the covers and handed a simple catch to the Temba Bavuma. Kagiso Rabada claimed his wicket. Birthday boy Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill continued the proceedings. 'Men in Blue' hammered 91 runs in the first mandatory powerplay. 

Keshav Maharaj injected another big blow for India as the veteran spinner dismissed inform batter Shubman Gill on the third ball of his spell, reducing India to 93/2 in 10.3 overs. 

Earlier, India won the toss and decided to bat first in the highly anticipated game.
