New Zealand has scored 273/10 in the allotted 50 overs against India in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 at Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala. Kiwis' innings were helped by the brilliant hundred from Daryl Mitchell and Rachin Ravindra's commanding half-century. The duo put the fourth highest partnerships for New Zealand in World Cups for any wicket by adding 159 runs of 152 deliveries.

However, the Indian bowler forced the strike rate to drop down after Rachin Ravindra was dismissed by Mohammed Shami. Indian pacers scalped 7 wickets in last 10 overs of the innings to steady New Zealand's innings.

As it happens in Dharmsala

The Kiwis suffered early blows against an impeccable Indian pace attack, who dismissed both the openers in the first powerplay. India got the first wicket after Devon Conway was dismissed for a nine-ball duck by Mohammed Siraj. Ravindra Jadeja took an excellent catch to provide a breakthrough. New Zeland was 9/1 in 3.3 overs.

The Indian pacers continued to bowl tight lines and lengths in the first mandatory powerplay. Mohammed Siraj struck the pad of Will Young twice and the batter narrowly escaped the instance while India reviewed on one of the occasions and the decision went in favor of Will Young as the umpire called stays.

However, Mohammed Shami, who is making maiden appearances in the World Cup struck in the very first over of the spell dismissing Will Young off an inside edge that went passed the bat to disturb the stumps. Will Young scored 17 runs off 27 deliveries. New Zeland were reduced to 19/2 in 8.1 overs

Big partnership between Daryl Mitchell-Rachin Ravindra

After losing the second wicket in the powerplay New Zealand's batting led by Daryl Mitchell and Rachin Ravindra started the counter strike by adding 159 runs for the third wicket partnership. The Balckcap batters were helped by the below-average fielding of the Indian contingent, who dropped catches on several occasions. Arguably the best fielder in the world Ravindra Jadeja dropped Rachin Ravindra while Jasprit Bumrah dropped Darly Mitchell at boundary. Mohammed Shami provided the much-needed breakthrough by dismissing Rachin Ravindra, who scored 75 runs off 87 deliveries including 6 boundaries a maximum.

Shami takes 5 wickets

Mohammed Shami combined with Kuldeep Yadav brings back India into the game. NZ's skipper Tom Latham, who scored just 5 runs was dismissed by Kuldeep Yadav. Glenn Phillips got the start but failed to convert it into a big score as he perished in order to increase the run rate. After that New Zealand's tail-end batters fell like a deck of cards as India bundled up the innings by scalping the last five wickets by conceding just 26 runs. However, Daryl Mitchell held one end and scored his 5th ODI hundred before getting dismissed by Shami. He scored 130 runs off 127 balls including 9 boundaries and 5 maximums.

Mohammed Shami took five wickets while Kuldeep Yadav got two. Siraj and Bumrah got one wicket each.
