Australia's explosive opener, Travis Head, became the seventh batsman to hammer a hundred in an ICC Cricket World Cup final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday.

Head reached his centuary mark off just 95 balls by taking a single off the bowling of Kuldeep Yadav in the 34th over.

First batter since Mahela Jayawardene

The left-hander batter is the first batter to reach the milestone in a World Cup summit clash since Sri Lanka skipper Mahela Jayawardene achieved the feat against India in World Cup 2023 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

The 29-year-old batter is also the third Australian to score a World Cup final century. Earlier, Ricky Ponting and Adam Gilchrist achieved this feat.
