World Cup 2023: Engelbrecht, Logan's fifties power Netherlands to 262 against Sri Lanka

Netherlands have posted 262/10 against Sri Lanka, helped by the fifties from Sybrand Engelbrecht and Logan van Beek in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Saturday. 

The Dutch skipper Scott Edwards won the toss and invited Sri Lanka to bowl in the nineteenth game in the multinational event. Sri Lanka bowled well removing both the openers under mandatory powerplay. Kasun Rajitha scalped the wickets of Vikramjit Singh and Max ODowd, who scored 4 off 13 and 16 off 27 respectively.

Rajitha shakes Netherlands top order

Rajitha went on further to scalp the wicket of Colin Ackermann, who showed some fight and scored 29 runs and 31 deliveries. However, the middle order of Netherlands collapsed after losing the wickets of Bas de Leede and Teja Nidamanuru, who fell cheaply in the event. 

Moreover, Edwards failed to repeat the astonishing performance against South Africa and got dismissed by M Theekshana after scoring 16 off 16 deliveries causing the Duth innings to sink further. 

Fifties by Sybrand Engelbrecht and Logan van Beek

Sybrand Engelbrecht and Logan van Beek put up the fight adding 130 runs partnership for the seventh wicket, completing respective half-centuries in the process. Dilshan Madushanka provided his team with a major breakthrough as he removed Engelbrecht. He scored 70 runs off 82 deliveries including four boundaries and one maximum.

In the 49th over of the game, Rajitha went on to dismiss Logan van Beek for 59. In the last couple of overs, Sri Lanka took back the control they bundled out Netherlands for 262 runs.
