World Cup 2023 ENG vs AUS: England lose early wickets in search of 287 against Australia

In the ongoing clash between England and Australia in ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 on Saturday, Australia are bundled out for 286 runs.  Marnus Labuschagne was the only batter who crossed the 50-run mark in the 36th game of the tournament.

England in early trouble

Chasing the target of 287 runs, England was reduced to 20/2 in 5 overs. Jonny Bairstow was dismissed for a golden duck as Mitchell Strac got him first ball of the innings. Starc injected another blow by dismissing ace batter Joe Root, who scored 13 runs off 17 deliveries. 

Labuschagne scores fifty

England's skipper Jos Buttler won the toss and invited Australia to bowl first. England displayed a brilliant bowling performance inspired by Chris Woakes, who claimed a wicket haul. Steven Smith and Marnus Labuschagne added 75 runs off 96 deliveries. Steven Smith scored 44 runs while Labuschagne scored 71 runs.
