Chasing the target of 287 runs, England was reduced to 20/2 in 5 overs. Jonny Bairstow was dismissed for a golden duck as Mitchell Strac got him first ball of the innings. Starc injected another blow by dismissing ace batter Joe Root, who scored 13 runs off 17 deliveries.
England's skipper Jos Buttler won the toss and invited Australia to bowl first. England displayed a brilliant bowling performance inspired by Chris Woakes, who claimed a wicket haul. Steven Smith and Marnus Labuschagne added 75 runs off 96 deliveries. Steven Smith scored 44 runs while Labuschagne scored 71 runs.
