Afghanistan has won the World Cup 2023 match against England by 69 runs on Sunday. This is the second loss of England in the three matches it has played in the World Cup.
The score stands at 284 in 49.5 runs for Afghanistan while England scored 215 runs in 40.3 overs.
The Afghanistan Cricket Board took to ‘X’ to announce the historic win and wrote “What a momentous occasion for Afghanistan as AfghanAtalan have defeated England, the reigning champions, to register a historic victory. A significant achievement for Afghanistan!”

The International Cricket Council (ICC) also announced the milestone Afghanistan cricket has achieved in the Sunday match. “Afghanistan scripted history with a stunning upset win over defending champions England in Delhi in a thrilling #CWC23 clash,” wrote ICC on X

The next match in ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 is between Australia and Sri Lanka which will be held on October 16 at Lucknow. Both the team have played 2 matches this season and is yet to achieve a win.
