New Delhi: As the Pakistan cricket team faces decline, former star Ahmad Shehzad didn't hold back in expressing his frustration with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). Known for his outspoken criticism, Shehzad once again took to social media to slam the PCB for their handling of the team's affairs. Following Pakistan's unprecedented loss to Bangladesh in Rawalpindi—the first in the nation's history—Shehzad voiced his concerns over the team's current state.

Pakistan's cricket hits new low

"I haven't seen Pakistan cricket sink this low in my lifetime," Shehzad stated in a video shared on social media. "Batting, bowling, and fielding are topics for another day, but this defeat marks a new low. It will be incredibly challenging for the team to recover from this. They still haven't bounced back from the loss against Afghanistan," he added, highlighting the team's ongoing struggles.

PCB to blame, not the players

Shehzad didn't mince words when he placed the blame squarely on the PCB, comparing the current situation of Pakistan cricket to the decline of the men's hockey team. "I've warned before that Pakistan cricket is heading towards darkness. The situation is eerily similar to what happened with hockey. We never expected to lose to Bangladesh, but here we are. The players aren't at fault; it's the PCB that's responsible."

He further criticized the board for failing to nurture domestic talent, saying, "Players don't force their way into the team; it's the board that keeps selecting them. If you don't have domestic players ready to replace the current squad, then what has the PCB been doing all this time?"

Historic downfall of Pakistan cricket has begun

In his video caption, Shehzad didn't hold back, declaring that the "historic downfall" of Pakistan cricket has begun. "The nation has been lied to repeatedly. After today's humiliating defeat by Bangladesh, a dirty joke has been played again. Who should the nation hold accountable? Who is responsible for this mess?" he wrote in Urdu.

Direct attack on PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi

In another video, Shehzad took aim at PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, recalling the promises made after Pakistan's loss to India in the 2024 T20 World Cup. "You said you would 'surgically' fix Pakistan cricket, but you failed. You lied, just like your predecessors. What did you think? That beating Bangladesh in a Test series would buy you time? But that didn’t happen."
