Babar Azam lost his cool after a few fans trolled him with 'Zimbabar' chants during the Pakistan Super League (PSL) match between Peshawar Zalmi and Multan Sultans. The Zalmi captain was sitting with the support staff near the boundaries when a few Multan fans started chanting 'Zimbabar' which triggered the veteran batter who threatened to throw the water bottle at fans.

For the unversed, Zimbabar chants are not new to the former Pakistan captain. The veteran batter has often been trolled with Zimbabar chants due to his poor performance in recent years against big teams. Zimbabar word is derived from Babar's outstanding record against Zimbabwe.

Why trollers called him 'Zimbabar'?

In 18 matches against Zimbabwe in all formats of the game, Babar has scored 693 runs at an average of 57.75. Babar's critics believe that Babar Azam only scores runs against weak opponents like Zimbabwe. However, that's not true at all. Barring India and Ireland, Babar averages more than 40 across formats against all Test-playing nations.

Meanwhile, Peshawar Zalmi defeated Multan Sultans by five runs to pick their first win of PSL 2024. Zalmi set a target of 180 runs to win for the Sultans. Babar and Haseebullah Khan made crucial contributions of 31 and 37 to help the team to a good score. Multan Sultans were cruising to a win at 122/2, however, a shocking collapse saw them get bowled out for 174. Babar Azam has enjoyed a good run in PSL so far. He is the second leading run-scorer of the tournament, with 171 runs in three games, including two fifties.
