Indian power-hitter Rinku Singh played a thunderous innings against South Africa on Tuesday at St George's Park in Gqeberha. The young sensation made a statement statement on smashing a six that broke the media box window. His fiery knock went in vain as India ultimately lost by 5 wickets in a rain-interrupted match. 

'Men in Blue' have included several young prodigies in the squad to test their mettle for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024. So far, the 26-year-old batter has impressed everyone with his ability to hit big sixes. He has been a monster in the role of a finisher in the shortest format of cricket.

Sweet apology for brutal six

In a video posted by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Rinku offered a sincere apology for the accidental damage. "When I hit that shot, I didn't realize the glass had broken. It was only afterwards that I was told," he said. "Uske liye sorry (Sorry for that)," added Rinku.

Unbeaten 68 guides India to big score

Despite the loss, Rinku's unbeaten 68 off just 39 balls, including two sixes and nine boundaries. His strike rate of 174.36 accelerated the innings at the death overs.

Rinku credited his skipper, Suryakumar Yadav, for his success. "Surya bhai was telling me to play my natural game and take my time," he revealed. "He asked me to believe in myself and helped me stay calm when I wasn't finding my rhythm initially. The wicket was tough at first, but as I played more, it started coming together."

Strong nominee for World Cup selection

Rinku's consistent performances throughout the series combined with his fearless approach and ability to finish games, have undoubtedly strengthened his case for World Cup selection. However, India lost the match but Rinku's performance was a reminder of the exciting young talent waiting to shine on the world stage.
