Aussie cricket legend David Warner made a heroic entrance at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) on Friday by arriving in a helicopter for the Big Bash League (BBL) clash between Sydney Thunder and Sydney Sixers. The dramatic arrival followed Warners attendance at his brothers wedding earlier that day. The helicopter landed on the SCG outfield, close to the Thanks Dave logo painted during Warners farewell Test match.Dave Warner. In a Helicopter.Arriving at the SCG.Heres how it happened. @davidwarner31 @ThunderBBL @scg #BBL13 pic.twitter.com/v7QRCkauH5— KFC Big Bash League (@BBL) January 12, 2024Warners larger-than-personalitySpeaking to Channel 7, Warner expressed his determination to make the most of his limited appearances for Thunder this season. Ive done my utmost best to get down here and hopefully put some runs on the board, he said. I might look like a bit of a goose if I dont get any runs, but its my contribution to not just the BBL but Australian cricket. I want to be out here. I want to entertain. I want to try and help our team win the next three games.Ever seen anything like it 😆 🚁 @davidwarner31 arrives to the @scg on a helicopter to the Sydney Smash. #BBL13 pic.twitter.com/gS4Rxmz71C— KFC Big Bash League (@BBL) January 12, 2024First appearance after Tests retirementWarners commitment to Thunder is evident, considering the fact that he signed a massive two-year deal with the team before the last season. This match is one of his three scheduled appearances for the team after his Test retirement. Hes going to a lot of effort to come and play for us, Sandhu said. We love having him here. Last year he was awesome for us, maybe didnt score as many runs as he would have liked, but around the group and passing on knowledge was awesome to have him around. Hes one of the better teammen. All the fans get to enjoy him playing cricket.Meanwhile, Sean Abbott, a player for the rival Sydney Sixers, couldnt resist adding a touch of humour to the situation. He is a bit Hollywood, isnt he, thats very Davey, Abbott joked a day before the match. I got the Lime bike in today and Ill be doing the same tomorrow night and riding out the gate as Davey lands.
