Meanwhile, Russia’s Daniil Medvedev made it to the last 16 with a strong finish over Argentine Sebestain Baez in a 6-2, 6-2, 7-6 victory. While rain caused the brief delay in the match, Sebestain Baez gave everything in the third set and rode a crucial 5-2 lead. Despite missing out on several break points in a 22-point game, Medvedev fired back and won to make it 8-6. Medvedev broke the 12-consecutive match-winning streak of Sebestain Baez.

Medvedev said after the match, “I felt like we were both playing well, even in the first two sets. I was just a little better on important points, kind of everything was going my way. Third set he raised his level just a little bit to make the match even tougher. A bit of luck and some good play from me kept me in the set.”
