Cricket great Sachin Tendulkar presented Prime Minister Narendra Modi with a Team India jersey in Varansai on Saturday. It was specially designed for the ODI World Cup, with tri-color stripes on the shoulders.

The jersey had ‘NAMO’ and the number ‘1’ written on the back. Eminent sports figures, including Kapil Dev, Sachin Tendulkar, Ravi Shastri, BCCI secretary and ACC Chief Jay Shah, and others, attended the international cricket stadium’s inaguration ceremony in Kashi.

While addressing his constituency,Varanashi, PM Modi said that the upcoming stadium would have a maximum capacity of 30,000 and would be handicap-friendly. He also mentioned that the design of the venue is inspired by Lord Shiva and it will be dedicated to Lord Shiva.

PM Modi also announced the development of the Sports Center and congratulated the athletes participating in the Asian Games, which are set to kick off today in Hangzhou, China.

After that, he will likely address a crowd of pro-women supporters about the women’s reservation measure that Parliament approved earlier this week.
Modi will also open 16 newly built Atal Residential Schools in his parliamentary district.

The Uttar Pradesh government, led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, has spent Rs 121 crore on land acquisition for the construction of the International Cricket Stadium in Varanasi. The BCCI will spend Rs 330 crore on the stadium’s construction.

The Uttar Pradesh government, in a press statement, said,”The spectators’ gallery of the stadium will resemble the steps of the ghats of Varanasi. Situated near the Ring Road in the Rajatalab area, it is likely to be ready by December 2025″.

This stadium will be Uttar Pradesh’s third international cricket stadium after Kanpur and Lucknow.
