Indian duo Ramkumar Ramanathan and Saketh Myneni beat South Korean pair of Seongchan Hong and Soonwoo Kwon with a score line of 6-1, 6-7(6), 10-0 in a thrilling game to advance into the final of men’s doubles final at the Asian Games 2023 in Hangzhou.

The second seed assured a sliver at least but the duo will look to change the color of the medal and would be eager to settle for nothing less than gold after the dominant display of the game against mighty South Korea.

This will be Saketh Myneni’s third final at the games is assured of his 3rd Asian Games medal. Earlier, he won a silver medal in men’s doubles with Sanam Singh in the 2014 Asian Games and a Gold medal in mixed doubles with Sania Mirza. However, Ramkumar will be making his maiden appearance at the final of the Asian Games.

The pair of Saketh Myneni and Ramkumar Ramanathan are India’s 7th pair to reach the men’s doubles final at the Asian Games. India has won 5 Gold medals so far in this category at the Asian Games.

Battle for Gold

Ramkumar Ramanathan and Saketh Myneni will take on Thailand’s Isaro Pruchya and Jones Maximus Parapol in the men’s doubles final to battle for Gold in a highly anticipated clash on Friday.

Top seeds Rohan Bopanna and Yuki Bhambri are out of the competition with a shocking defeat in the first round of the continental multi-sport event. India’s hopes rested on the shoulders of Myneni and Ramkumar to put an end to what has been a disappointing campaign for India’s tennis contingent so far.
