The road to qualification for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 has been revealed on Sunday as per the reports from ESPNCricinfo. ICC's top multi-national event is scheduled to be held in Pakistan which will feature eight teams including a guaranteed spot for the host nation.

Qualification for the event will be based on performance in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. The top 7 teams in the World Cup will secure their places making the competition more intense. This has added extra pressure on Bangladesh and England, who are currently at 9th and 10th on the points table. 

Confirmed: Pakistan already qualifed for Champions Trophy 2025 in host capacity. Top-7 teams from this World Cup will also qualify for the event.

Ireland, West Indies and Zimbabwe will not be part of the CT 2025 as they are not part of World Cup 2023.

The qualification rules also mean that West Indies, Zimbabwe, and Ireland, are unable to qualify for the ICC World Cup 2023, forcing the teams to play the qualifiers. Reports from ESPNCricinfo suggest that some cricket boards were taken by surprise when the ICC clarified this qualification scenario.

However, an ICC spokesperson confirmed that the qualification system for the 2025 Champions Trophy was endorsed earlier by the ICC Board in 2021. Earlier the tournament included the top eight teams in the ODI rankings securing places in the 2013 and 2017 editions.

Bangladesh's skipper on qualification for Champions Trophy 2025

Bangladesh's prospects in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 are far from promising, with no chance of reaching the semi-finals. However, the looming qualification for the Champions Trophy 2025 has added more stress to their performance. Bangladesh's captain, Shakib Al Hasan, acknowledged the need to raise their effort in the event. 

Shakib Al Hasan said, "I mean, not the semi-final hope. It is not a semi-final possibility. At least, do a little better. Suppose you have to be in the [top] ranking 8 if you want to play in the Champions Trophy. So, there are still three matches left considering that in mind".
