The Indian men’s archery compound teams consisting trio of Ojas Pravin Deotale, Abhishek Verma, and Prathamesh Jawkar beat the Republic of Korea 235-230 in the final to clinch the gold medal and reclaimed their title at the ongoing 19th Asian Games 2023.
Previously, India had won the title in the 2014 edition of the Asian Games. The Republic of Korea, however, had thrashed the Indian team in the 2018 final.
The Indian trio displayed a stellar performance and shot 58, 58, and 59 in the first three rounds while sealing the gold medal with a perfect 60 in the fourth round. Abhishek Verma, who was a part of the silver-medal winning team in 2018, upgraded the color of the medal to gold while Ojas Pravin Deotale and Prathamesh Jawkar secured their first men’s compound team title at the multisport event. This is 21st gold medal for India in the Asian Games 2023.
