The Prime Minister, Narendra Modi congratulated Ramkumar Ramanathan and Saketh Myneni on winning the silver medal in tennis men’s doubles event in the ongoing Asian Games 2023 in Hangzhou on Friday.

PM Modi posted on the microblogging site, X(formerly known as Twitter), “Great news thanks to our tennis players. Congratulations to our Men’s Doubles pair of Ramkumar and Saketh Myneni on winning an Asian Games Silver Medal. Their exceptional teamwork has left us all in awe. My best wishes for their upcoming endeavors”.

The Indian duo managed to win silver after being edged by Chinese Taipei’s Hus Yu-Hsiou and Jason Jung in straight sets in the final. This is the first medal in tennis from this edition of the Asian Games. Earlier, India had won three medals in the 18th edition of the Asian Games in Indonesia.

Ramkumar Ramanathan said after the game, “It is my first Asian Games medal, I always wanted to win a medal for India. It was one of my goals, and that too coming with Saki (Saketh), very happy about it”.

Saketh Myneni, said after securing silver in the game, “It’s a privilege to play for a country and wear the tri-color and compete. I think very few times we do that in a year. So it’s a great competition, a great event. So glad we could make a contribution”.
