New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed Team India to his residence following their T20 World Cup victory, accompanied by Jay Shah. The meeting celebrated the team's triumph, highlighting their exceptional performance in the tournament.

T20 World Cup 2024 winner 

After choosing to bat first, India posted a solid total of 176/7 in their allotted 20 overs, led by Virat Kohli's impressive innings of 76 (59). In response, South Africa fell short, managing only 169/8 in their 20 overs. Hardik Pandya played a crucial role, taking 3/20 and successfully defending 15 runs in the final over for India.

With this victory, India ended their 11-year ICC Trophy drought, marking a significant triumph. Their last major title was the 2013 Champions Trophy under Dhoni's captaincy, and they had suffered five final defeats since then. Despite a tense encounter against South Africa, India maintained composure to snatch victory, sparking nationwide celebration. The return of the World Champions is eagerly anticipated after their promise to "raise the national flag" in Barbados with this final win.
