Star NBA players join US men's basketball team for 2024 Paris Olympics, here's why

There is a lot of potential being seen in the US men's basketball team for 2024 Paris Olympics as many big names from the NBA have signed up. Read below to see who is on the list and which players may join.

This time around more renowned players have shown interest in signing up for the Olympics in Comparison to the past two Summer Olympics. Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr has been appointed as the head coach of the US men’s basketball team for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Reasons Why Star Players Signed up

Why have so many established players joined the list for the event? Although there are likely many reasons for this, one of the big reasons that have surfaced is the location of the event. Paris, France is a location where the players would enjoy travelling and find the atmosphere good for competing during the summertime. 

Potential Big Names to Join

Several star players, such as Durant, James, and Curry have discussed retirement and therefore may want to add the Olympics to their experience. 
Stephen Curry would be going to the Olympics for the first time. This would be a great opportunity for him and Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr to affiliate themselves with one another once again. 

Curry has never played in the Olympics, and it will be a chance for him to play for his Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr, who is the head coach of the US men’s team in Paris.

History of Men's Olympics Basketball Team

The first American Olympic team to feature active professional players from the National Basketball Association (NBA), was The 1992 United States men's Olympic basketball team, named the 'Dream Team'. The 2008 team was titled the 'Redeem Team'. Though not yet announced the 2024 squad may be called the 'Supreme Team'.

High expectations from 2024 team

The 2024 team is being held in high esteem and expected to outdo all past US basketball teams that have entered the Olympics. The team includes Finals MVPs, MVPs, All-NBA players and future Hall of Famers which conveys that the roster consists of a highly talented group of players.
