Sports News : India's middle-order batsman Shreyas Iyer has been nominated for the ICC Player of the Month award for March, alongside New Zealand's Rachin Ravindra and Jacob Duffy. This recognition comes after Iyer's impressive performance in the recent Champions Trophy, where he played a crucial role in India's title win.
Iyer scored 243 runs in five matches at an average of 48.60, including two half-centuries. His ability to anchor the innings and build partnerships was instrumental in guiding India through tough moments in the tournament. The ICC highlighted his contributions, stating that his performances were vital to India's unbeaten run.
Ravindra topped the batters' chart with 263 runs in four matches at an average of 65.75, including two centuries. His tournament-defining innings came in the semi-final against South Africa, where he scored a brilliant 108 and stitched a vital 164-run partnership with Kane Williamson.
Duffy, the world No 1 T20I bowler, was recognized for his dominant show in New Zealand's 4-1 thrashing of Pakistan in the T20I series. He took 13 wickets with an economy rate of 6.17 and an average of 8.38, including two four-wicket hauls.
