Shocker! Rohit Sharma unlikely to play T20Is again: Reports

The 36-year-old hasn't played a single game in the shortest format after India's heart-breaking exit from the T20 World Cup semi-final in November 2022.

In a shocking revelation, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma is unlikely to play T20 Internationals anymore. As per the PTI reports, ODI and Test skipper had discussed earlier, about his future in the shortest format before the start of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. The 36-year-old hasn't played a single game in the shortest format after India's heart-breaking exit from the T20 World Cup semi-final in November 2022. 

Since Rohit's absence, Hardik Pandya has led the 'Men in Blue' in T20 Internationals. The 'Hitman' has featured in 148 T20 Internationals, hammering 3853 runs at a healthy strike rate of nearly 140, including four centuries.

It has completely been Rohit's call, says BCCI source

PTI cited the statement from a senior BCCI source, who said, "It is not a new development. Rohit hasn't played any T20Is in the past one year as the focus was on ODI World Cup. He had extensive discussions with the chairman of selectors Ajit Agarkar in this regard. He has himself volunteered to stay away from T20Is. It has completely been Rohit's call." 

Rohit's replacement

For T20 Internationals 'Men in Blue' has four openers including Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ishan Kishan, and Ruturaj Gaikwad, who have shown their impressive performance during the IPL. If needed, KL Rahul can also open for India as he is doing it for his IPL team, LSG.
