IPL 2024: In a thrilling IPL 2024 match against Delhi Capitals, Mumbai Indians' batter Romario Shepherd stole the show with an incredible performance in the final over. Shepherd's onslaught left everyone stunned as he smashed 32 runs off South African speedster Anrich Nortje.

The West Indies' player showcased his power-hitting skills by dispatching Nortje's deliveries to all parts of the ground. He hammered two fours and four sixes in the 20th over. Shepherd's blitz in the final over propelled Mumbai Indians to a formidable total of 234 for 5.

Here's how the onslaught started

Starting the over with a boundary straight down the ground, Shepherd continued his assault with a massive six over long-on. He followed it up with another six on the leg side, demonstrating his ability to manipulate the field. Two more boundaries through sweeper cover and long-on further boosted Mumbai's score, with Shepherd sealing the innings with a colossal hit over wide long-on.

Romario Shepherd leaves players in awe

The Mumbai Indians' dressing room was left in awe of Shepherd's remarkable batting display, with legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar applauding the effort. Skipper Hardik Pandya's astonished expressions during the onslaught quickly became viral on social media.

Shepherd's explosive cameo was crucial in Mumbai's batting onslaught, with his unbeaten 39 off just 10 balls contributing immensely to their imposing total. His onslaught compounded the misery for the Delhi Capitals bowlers, particularly Nortje, whose final figures of 2 for 65 in 4 overs reflected the onslaught he faced.

Complete team performance

Supported by strong performances from Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan, Hardik Pandya, and Tim David, Mumbai Indians posted their highest total at Wankhede Stadium. Despite a brief setback with Suryakumar Yadav's early dismissal, David's fiery knock combined with Shepherd's late fireworks ensured Mumbai Indians finished with a commanding total on the board.

Thumping victory over Delhi Capitals

In pursuit of the mammoth target, Delhi Capitals fell 29 runs short. Gerald Coetzee and Jasprit Bumrah ensured MI's first win of the season.
