India’s star men’s doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty continued their dream run at the BWF World Tour circuit after defeating world no. 1 Indonesian duo Fajar Alfian and Muhammad Rian Ardianto to clinch the Korea Open 2023 title in Yeosu, Korea on Sunday.

This victory represents the ‘Satwik-Chirag’ duo’s third Super 500 title – previously winning Thailand Open 2019 and Yonex Sunrise India Open 2022. Satwik and Chirag had the third BWF World Tour title in 2023 also, as well as the Swiss Open 2023 (Super 300) and Indonesia Open 2023 (Super 1000).

Satwik-Chirag win Korea Open 2023 after thrilling 3-game finale

Satwik-Chirag beat the Indonesian no. 1 pair in a thrilling 3-game final, ending the match with figures of 17-21, 21-13, 21-14. Despite narrowly losing the first set, the Indian duo fought back and won the event.

On top of their impressive performance, the Pullela Gopichand-coached duo stole the spotlight with a stylish victory dance.

“You two are truly inspiring. We not only enjoyed your superb performance but also the victory dance thereafter!” Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote on Twitter.

Chirag and Satwik will be seen next in the Japan Open, which is a Super 750 badminton tournament starting on July 25.
