India's legendary batter Sachin Tendulkar will kick off the much-anticipated Hyderabad Half Marathon 2023. Around 8,000 sprinters are expected to participate at the Gachibowli Stadium.
The event features three distinct categories: the Half Marathon (21.1 kilometers) will commence at 5:15 am, followed by the Timed 10 kilometers at 6:30 am, and the 5 kilometers Fun Run, scheduled to start at 7:45 am.
The Brand Ambassador of Ageas Federal Life Insurance, 'Master Blaster' said, "Ageas Federal has been at the forefront of promoting a fearless future through its marathons nationwide, and the latest addition is here in the vibrant city of Hyderabad. I am confident that this year's race theme, 'Run Ageless, Run Fearless,' will inspire participants to tackle the course with courage and give their best performance."
Tendulkar continued, "When it comes to running, a lot of people box themselves into different challenges. Some are worried about maintaining practice schedules, some about their diet, and some about their fitness. But one should never feel it is too late to start. I hope the participants this year will move beyond the thoughts of age and not be restricted by a number. You can start your fitness journey any time, not just when you're young. For India to transform from a sport-loving nation to a sport-playing nation, we need participation from people across all age groups".
Along with the half marathons, "Run Ageless, Run Fearless," twelve visually impaired runners will participate, supported by Guide Runners India, the event's NGO partner. Furthermore, 120 individuals from the Cardiac Rehab Foundation will partake in the event.
Expressing his delight, Nagaraj Adiga, the Chairman and Managing Director of NEB Sports said, "We are thrilled to witness the growing fitness culture in Hyderabad. The Hyderabad Half Marathon has established itself as a favorite among runners from across the state. We have implemented all necessary protocols and made every effort to ensure seamless arrangements so that runners can enjoy their experience on the route".
The oldest male runner, 69-year-old Anil Gupta, and the oldest female runner, 54-year-old Aparna Deepak, will join the half marathon. On the other hand, 14-year-olds Syed Almir and Akshaya Uppalapati will also participate. The event will also feature corporate groups, as well as police and armed forces.
