Rohit Sharma
Sports News: Team India captain Rohit Sharma and former captain Virat Kohli are currently putting in their best efforts for their respective teams in IPL 2025. Both these players will remain busy in IPL for the next few weeks. But after this, international cricket will return and the next 6 months can be important for both. In these next 6 months, it can be decided whether Rohit and Virat will get the maximum money from BCCI or not. This is because there seems to be a delay in the central contract of BCCI and it can be announced in October.
BCCI announced the central contract for the women's cricket team last month. Some players were excluded from it, while some new players were included. Since then, the announcement of the central contract for the men's team is being awaited. But the board has not announced it yet, whereas usually BCCI approves it by March. A big reason for this is the future of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, which has not been decided yet.
Media has reported that BCCI has postponed the decision for the time being in view of Team India's poor performance in the recent Test format and especially Rohit Sharma's future in this format. The report states that the board officials will discuss this decision with the selection committee, while coach Gautam Gambhir has also given his opinion. However, quoting a source in the board, it has been said that the board has no problem in continuing with the previous contract list, but if it is announced in October, then the picture of the future will become clearer.
The discussion may be only about Rohit Sharma's Test future, but looking at his recent form, Virat Kohli's future is also in question. It is believed that Team India will tour England for the Test series under Rohit's captaincy. Along with this, Virat is also sure to play this series. In such a situation, the performance of both of them in this series will largely decide whether they will get the highest money or not. Virat and Rohit currently come in the number-1 category A+, under which Rs 7 crore is given annually. Apart from these two, only Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja come in this grade.
