Delhi Capitals' captain Rishabh Pant is set to make a comeback in the Indian Premier League (IPL) after being sidelined due to a serious car accident in December 2022. Pant, who missed the entire IPL 2023 season due to injuries from the crash, has been given the green light by the National Cricket Academy (NCA) to resume his role behind the stumps and lead his team in IPL 2024.

Following the official announcement of Pant's return, Delhi Capitals (DC) expressed their excitement with a welcoming post for their skipper. The post was shared on microblogging platform X, with the caption, "Ready to ROAR. Welcome back, Rishabh Pant. Can’t wait to see you."

However, one fan took a jibe at the post's graphic shared by DC, suggesting that Pant might run away with his car upon seeing it. "I would have rather made it better, after seeing this he will go back to the car."

In response to the fan's jest, Pant, known for his wit, took the comment in good humor. Despite his ordeal, Pant has undergone extensive rehabilitation over the past 14 months and is eager to take on the dual responsibilities of wicket-keeping and leading his team when the IPL kicks off on March 22.

BCCI confirms Pant's availability

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed Pant's fitness on Monday, stating, "After undergoing an extensive 14-month rehab and recovery process; Rishabh Pant has now been declared fit as a wicket-keeper batter for the upcoming IPL 2024."

Pant shares his recovery process

Meanwhile, in an interview, Pant shared his experience with Star Sports, "I asked the doctor how long will it take for me to recover; He said it would take 16 to 18 months. I told the doctor from whatever timeline you give me, I will reduce six months from it."

The cricket fraternity is eagerly waiting for the comeback of the star batter after a remarkable journey of resilience and determination following his accident.
