Thus, it appears that Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja may have just played his last One Day International (ODI) for Team India. His stunning performances in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 have surely been the buzz in town. But currently, there's a lot of buzz going on about whether he's considering retirement.

Even cricket great Virat Kohli has teased it, wondering if Jadeja is really retiring from ODIs. Right throughout the entire tournament, Jadeja has been one of the team's vital cogs, displaying his abilities with some game-altering showings with the ball. In the last game against New Zealand, he stood out particularly, making it difficult for the Kiwi batsmen to settle.

But what really got everyone talking?

It was Kohli's emotional hug for Jadeja—it led to all kinds of speculation that this could very well be his last game in ODIs.Now, let's discuss that emotional hug by Kohli. In that last game, Jadeja bowled exceptionally well, picking up a crucial wicket while maintaining his economy rate remarkably low. The Kiwi batsmen simply couldn't cope with him, which really demonstrated his supremacy on the field. When Jadeja had completed his 10-over spell, Kohli went up to him and gave him a bear hug. It was one of those gestures that really stood out, given all the tension of the final.

That hug?

That definitely meant more than a simple pat on the back. It appeared to imply something more—such as perhaps Kohli was conceding that Jadeja may be considering retirement. And to date, there has been no word from Jadeja regarding his ODI career. Now, let's not forget Jadeja's impressive performance in the final. He bowled a good 10-over spell, conceding only 30 runs and taking that crucial wicket.

His fielding was equally excellent as well, putting pressure on the opposing team, which helped quite a bit in India's win. It's difficult to be certain that this is the end of the line for him, but one thing is certain: Jadeja's contribution towards Indian cricket has been purely monumental.
