Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit his Lok Sabha constituency of Varanasi on Saturday. During this visit, he will perform the Bhoomi Pujan ceremony for an international cricket stadium planned to be constructed in the Ganjari area of Rajatalab, Varanashi on September 23.

In the afternoon, the Prime Minister will inaugurate 16 Atal Awasiya Vidyalayas, specifically established for the children of laborers, construction workers, and those orphaned due to the Covid-19 pandemic, across Uttar Pradesh. Additionally he’ll go to the Rudraksh International Cooperation and Convention Centre, where he will take part in the closing ceremony of the Kashi Sansad Sanskritik Mahotsav 2023.

The development of an international cricket stadium in Varanasi aligns with the Prime Minister’s vision of creating modern, world-class sports infrastructure in India. The stadium is expected to cover an area of more than 30 acres and have an estimated cost of around Rs 450 crores.

It will have a seating capacity for 30,000 spectators, and its architectural design draws inspiration from Lord Shiva, featuring crescent-shaped roof covers, trident-shaped floodlights, ghat steps-based seating, and Bilvipatra-shaped metallic sheets.

Each of the newly inaugurated schools occupies an area of 10-15 acres and includes classrooms, sports facilities, recreational areas, a mini auditorium, a hostel complex, mess facilities, and residential flats for staff. These residential schools are designed to eventually accommodate up to 1,000 students each.

According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s office, the schedule for the day includes, “At approximately 1:30 pm, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for the International Cricket Stadium in Varanasi. At around 3:15 pm, the Prime Minister will arrive at the Rudraksh International Cooperation and Convention Centre, where he will participate in the closing ceremony of Kashi Sansad Sanskritik Mahotsav 2023. During the event, he will also inaugurate the 16 Atal Awasiya Vidyalayas established across Uttar Pradesh”.
