President Droupadi Murmu presided over the Sports and Adventure Awards 2023 ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan, encompassing prestigious accolades like Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Awards, Dronacharya Awards, Arjuna Awards, Dhyan Chand Awards, Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Awards, Rashtriya Khel Protsahan Puruskar, and Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Trophy.

The prestigious Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award was conferred upon India's star badminton men's doubles duo, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty. Their outstanding achievements include securing three Badminton World Federation (BWF) titles, making history with India's first-ever badminton gold at the Asian Games, and attaining the world number one ranking in BWF doubles.
Several prominent athletes received the Arjuna Award, India's second-highest athletic honour, for consistent performance and demonstrating leadership, sportsmanship, and discipline. The awardees span various sports, from cricket and archery to athletics, wrestling, and para sports.
The Dronacharya Awards, both in the regular and lifetime categories, were presented to outstanding coaches across disciplines such as mallakhamb, para athletics, wrestling, chess, and hockey. These awards celebrate coaches' exceptional and consistent contributions to the success of athletes in international events.
Acknowledging lifetime achievements in sports and games, the Dhyan Chand Award was bestowed upon Kavitha Selvaraj (kabaddi), Manjusha Kanwar (badminton), and Vineet Kumar Sharma (hockey). These awards honour athletes who have not only excelled in their performances but have also made enduring contributions to the promotion of sports post-retirement.
The Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Trophy for 2023 was claimed by Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, reinforcing its status as the overall top-performing university in inter-university tournaments.
