Paris Olympics 2024: Indian men’s hockey team is gearing up for a crucial semi-final match against world champions Germany at the Paris 2024 Olympics. Led by Harmanpreet Singh, the team has showcased remarkable resilience throughout the tournament. In their quarter-final clash against Great Britain, India, despite being reduced to 10 men in the first half, displayed exceptional defensive skills to secure their semi-final berth. The game is scheduled at the Yves-du-Manoir Stadium at 10:30 PM IST.
Neeraj Chopra’s javelin throw title defense
India's star javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra will commence his title defense on Tuesday. Chopra is set to compete in Group B of the qualification round, beginning at 3:20 PM IST. His compatriot, Kishore Jena, will compete in Group A at 1:50 PM. The qualification mark for the final is set at 84.00 meters, with at least 12 of the 32 competitors advancing to Thursday’s final.
Events for Indian athletes
In addition to hockey and athletics, Indian athletes will compete in wrestling and table tennis. Asian Games and Commonwealth Games gold medallist Vinesh Phogat will take on the reigning Olympic champion Yui Susaki of Japan in the women's 50kg freestyle wrestling round of 16, scheduled for 2:44 PM IST. Should Phogat advance, further matches in the quarter-finals and semi-finals will follow, with the semi-final potentially being held at 9:45 PM IST.
In table tennis, the Indian men’s team, including Sharath Kamal, Harmeet Desai, and Manav Thakkar, will face top-seeded China in the round of 16 at 1:30 PM IST.
