Paris Olympics 2024: A standout performer at the Paris Olympics 2024, Manu Bhaker has qualified for the finals of the Women’s 25m Air Pistol event, positioning herself for a potential third medal. The 22-year-old shooter is already a two-time bronze medalist at these Games, and demonstrated exceptional skill, finishing second in the qualifying round.

Brilliant performance in qualifying round

In the qualifying event, Bhaker scored an impressive 590 points. She excelled in the ‘precision’ round, achieving a score of 294, and outperformed herself in the rapid round with a score of 296. Bhaker trails Hungary's Veronika Major by just two points; Major set an Olympic qualification record with a score of 592 (294 in precision and 298 in rapid).

Bhaker's medal haul

Having already secured bronze medals in both the 10m Women’s Air Pistol and the 10m Air Pistol Mixed Team events, alongside Sarabjot Singh, Bhaker is keen to add another medal to her collection. Her performance in the precision rounds improved steadily, with scores of 97, 98, and 99. In the rapid segment, Bhaker began with a perfect score of 100, followed by two consistent rounds of 98.

Esha Singh's journey ends

In contrast, fellow Indian shooter Esha Singh finished 18th and narrowly missed out on the finals with a total score of 581-17x. Singh’s performance in the precision round, where she scored 291, was hampered by lower scores of 95 and 96 in the initial rounds, despite a perfect 100 in the final round. In the rapid round, she ended with 290, scoring 97, 96, and 97, which was insufficient to secure a spot in the finals.
