New Delhi: At the Paris Olympics, wrestler Aman Sehrawat was defeated by Rei Higuchi of Japan in the men's 57kg semifinals. Aman will now compete tomorrow, Friday, for the bronze medal. The Indian men's hockey team had just won their second straight Olympic bronze medal, defeating Spain 2-1. Neeraj Chopra, the gold medallist from India in Tokyo 2020, will compete for the gold again later in the evening in the men's javelin throw final.
Aman had defeated Vladimir Egorov of North Macedonia by a score of 10-0 in his round of 16 match earlier in the day. In the quarterfinal, he defeated Zelimkhan Abakanov of Albania by a score of 12-0 thanks to his better technical skills. In the same weight class, Ravi Kumar Dahiya had taken home a silver medal from the Olympics in Tokyo.
