Paris Olympics 2024: Manu Bhaker claims 11th quota for India

A total of 24 Olympics quotas were at stake for the multinational event.

Indian shooter Manu Bhaker finished third in the women's 25-meter pistol event at the Asian Shooting Championships 2023 in Changwon.  The ace Indian shooter secured a ticket to the Paris Olympics 2024.

Earlier, Bhaker qualified for the final by scoring a brilliant score of 591 points but only managed to add 24 points in the medal round.  The People's Republic of China's Liu Rui was the top scorer with 37 points in the final, while Iran's Rostamiyan Haniyeh scored 36 and China's Zhao Nan and Feng Sixuan scored 32 and 27 respectively.

24 Olympic quotas at stake 

The Asian Shooting Championships 2023 provides the platform as a qualifying event for the Olympics in Paris in 2024. A total of 24 Olympic quotes were at stake for the multinational event.

Previously, China had claimed one quota berth in this event and added another spot on Friday, with Liu Rui securing the top spot. Each country can win up to two quotas in a single event.

India secures 11 quotas for Paris Olympics 

The 21-year-old secured India's 11th quota for the Paris Olympics 2024. Manu Bhaker, Mehuli Ghosh, Rajeshwari Kumari, Sift Kaur Samra, and Tilottama Sen are among these. Tilottama Sen earned a quota after clinching a silver medal in the women's 10m air rifle event on Friday.

Arjun Babuta in men's 10m air rifle and Sarabjot Singh in men's 10m air pistol have also secured Paris Olympics 2024 quotas from the Changwon meet. Meanwhile, the Indian duo of Divyansh Singh Panwar and Ramita of India won silver in the 10m air rifle mixed team event. The pair won the qualifying event with a score of 631.1 to advance to the gold medal match, where they were headed defeat with a score of  16-12 by the Chinese combination of Han Jiayu and Yu Haonan.
