The defending champions have narrowed the qualifications chances of Pakistan in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 at Eden Gardens on Saturday. England has posted a mammoth target of 338 after a complete batting performance in Kolkata.

Earlier, England's skipper Jos Buttler won the toss and invited Babar's men to bowl in the 44th game of the ongoing tournament. Everyone in the top six contributed significantly from the English side. The opening pair of Dawid Malan and Jonny Bairstow added 82 runs for the first wicket providing a good start for their team. Root and Stokes continued building on the platform after the dismissal of Jonny Baristow (31).

Haris Rauf was the peak of the bowlers as the pacer looked in a good rhythm and claimed three wickets, while Mohammad Wasim Jr and Shaheen Afridi claimed two wickets each.

Although, Cricket is a game of uncertainty, but its certain that Pakistan has to face heartbreak as can't get past New Zealand's NRR on the points table. For people who are interested in sports, the qualification scenario to qualify for semis is that 'Men in Green' needs to chase the target of 338 in 6.4 overs.
