With more than four overs remaining, fast bowler Haris Rauf’s career-best figures of 4-18 eclipsed Matt Henry’s earlier hat trick, and New Zealand was bowled out for 94, losing its final five wickets for only six runs.

Saim Ayub, a young batter who is rapidly improving, and Fakhar Zaman each scored 47 runs before New Zealand struck in the second half of the innings thanks to Henry’s hat trick and bowled Pakistan out for 182 in the last over.

Babar stated, “I still remember the journey of starting here as a ball-boy on the sidelines, and to now be here is a huge honor.” He added, “I still remember the journey.”

Eight of New Zealand’s top players are busy competing in the Indian Premier League, so the team plays Pakistan for five Twenty20 and five One-Day Internationals without them.

Tom Latham, the captain of New Zealand, stated, “Lots of guys have not been here, and it is about taking the learnings from this game and adapting quickly tomorrow.” We should have quickly adjusted to the conditions; Pakistan’s score was slightly above par on that surface.

Adam Milne (2-51) of New Zealand struck first in the powerplay. The fast bowler caught Mohammad Rizwan’s (8) leg before wicket, and Babar attempted an overly ambitious shot on the offside against the pacer, but he was bowled out for 9 in 7 balls.

Left-handers Saim and Fakhar then, at that point, joined in a violent 79-run standoff 43 balls before Saim was run out as he was unable to beat Chad Bowes’ immediate toss from profound midwicket and missed the mark concerning his wrinkle at the non-striker’s end.

As Pakistan fell to 6-131, Fakhar also died before the final overs when caught in the deep while attempting a sweep against spinner Ish Sodhi.

Henry then completed a split hat trick in his return spell by catching Shadab Khan and Iftikhar Ahmed behind on the final two balls of his third over. Daryl Mitchell’s spectacular effort caught Shaheen Shah Afridi in the deep, and he parried the ball back to Bowes on the field after falling over the line of scrimmage.

Pakistan’s potent pace attack rattled New Zealand’s inexperienced top order, with Mark Chapman scoring the highest with a chancy 34, but Rizwan missed a regulation stumping early in his innings.

After that, Rauf quickly finished the innings by taking three wickets in his return. Left-arm spinner Imad Wasim also took two wickets off consecutive deliveries to help Pakistan get off to a strong start in the series.

Before Rawalpindi hosts the series’ final two matches, Lahore will host two more Twenty20 Internationals. Five One-Day Internationals (ODIs) in Rawalpindi and Karachi will follow the T20 series.

New Zealand’s unpracticed top request was shaken by significant areas of strength for Pakistan’s assault, with Imprint Chapman top-scoring with a chancy 34; however, not before Rizwan missed a guideline puzzling right off the bat in his thump.
