Master blaster Sachin Tendulkar, the former veteran batsman of the Indian cricket team, held many records till he played cricket. It has been a long time since Sachin Tendulkar retired from all formats of cricket. However, today is a very special day for him. The master blaster will never forget this day. In fact, 13 years ago, on this day i.e. February 24, Sachin Tendulkar scored a double century in ODI cricket.

Sachin Tendulkar scored a double century against South Africa on February 24 in the year 2010. During this match, he scored an unbeaten 200 off 147 balls with 25 fours and 3 sixes. During that time, Sachin Tendulkar became the first batsman in the world to hit a double century in ODI cricket. Although, now many players have scored double centuries in ODI cricket, Team India captain Rohit Sharma holds the record for most double centuries in ODI cricket, Rohit has so far scored three double centuries in ODI cricket.

Remembering this special day of Sachin Tendulkar, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has shared a video of him. This video shows Sachin’s double century. Sharing the video on social media, the BCCI wrote in the caption, “On this day in 2010, Sachin Tendulkar created history by scoring the first double century in ODI cricket.” Sachin’s fans from all over the world are continuously giving their reactions on this video.

Sachin Tendulkar made his debut for the Indian cricket team at the age of 16. He is the only player in the world who has 100 centuries in international cricket. Therefore, it is a distant possibility to break his record. Till date, no batsman has even been able to reach it. Sachin has 6 double centuries in Test cricket as well. That’s why Sachin is called the God of cricket.

Sachin Tendulkar has played 463 ODIs for the Indian cricket team, during which he has scored 18426 runs with 49 centuries and 96 fifties. Besides this, he has played 200 Test matches for India, in which he scored 15921 runs with 51 centuries and 68 fifties. Sachin averages 53.79 in Tests. On the other hand, Sachin has played only one T20 international match in his career in which he scored 10 runs.

The previous best was 186 not out against New Zealand in November 1999 in Hyderabad. He has dedicated the knock to the ‘People of India’. During the presentation ceremony of the match he said “I would like to dedicate this double hundred to the people of India who have stood by me no matter what for the last 20 years. There have been ups and downs, but they have supported me.”

Over the course of ODI cricket, the world’s players have scored double centuries so far. Despite this, the Indian player is on the verge of scoring a double century. Five Indian players have recorded double centuries so far. The record of playing the biggest innings in ODI cricket is also in the name of India’s Rohit Sharma. Besides this, the youngest player to score a double century in ODIs is Shubman Gill of India, who played New Zealand in January last month.
